Fall 2014 Workshops: Red Couch Writers and Grammar Hour

Need a quiet space to write and discuss your work? Looking for a quick answer to a grammar question that’s been plaguing you? Worry no more! The Writing and Communication Center has your back every week with both our Grammar Hour and Red Couch Writers.

What do these hours look like?

Red Couch Writers is a chance for you to practice your writing in a comfortable, stress-free environment. We provide tea, cookies, and writing prompts. You bring a desire to write, either on one of our prompts or for a project of your own. After the tea and writing we facilitate a general discussion – no specific feedback/criticism here, just a chance to talk about writing and process in a relaxed atmosphere free of judgment. Drop in on Tuesdays from noon to 1pm in UW2-124 to get your write on!

Grammar Hour happens twice a week – Mondays from 11am to 12noon and Thursdays from 2pm to 3pm. Here you can drop in at your convenience to ask questions and get answers about grammar. Wondering how to use commas, colons, or semicolons effectively? Want someone to go over subject-verb-object relationships? What’s the difference between a possessive, a contraction, and a plural possessive? What is passive voice and how can you avoid it? Come to the WaCC in UW2-124 to ask, because we’ve got answers!

Both Red Couch Writers and Grammar Hour are drop-in, so you don’t need an appointment. We’d love to see you, so just come on by!

Afraid you’ll forget these times? Check out our events page at http://www.uwb.edu/wacc/events for these and other great opportunities!
